 ANTHROPOMETRY – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
 Fiona Ford writes:
“I'm currently studying a Masters in Applied Sports Nutrition and part of
our Anthropometry module requires assessing body composition using a range
of measures, including skinfolds. I require another seven volunteers to be
measured this week to gain an ISAK Level 2 qualification. The International
Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) has developed
international standards for anthropometric assessment and an international
 anthropometry accreditation scheme.

The process that volunteers are required to undertake involves different
sites of the body being measured with skinfold callipers - triceps,
subscapular, biceps, abdominal, thigh, calf, iliac crest. Knowing your body
composition can also help if you want to see the effect of different types
of training, nutritional interventions or lifestyle factors on body fat and
 muscle mass levels.

Volunteers are required to wear swim or gym wear while having the skinfolds
measurements taken, shorts or trunks for men and shorts and running top for
women. The process takes 30 minutes and subjects receive their body
composition assessment report after the assessment.

I will be at St Mary's University in Twickenham this week conducting body
composition measuring on Friday 21/12 alternatively we could arrange a body
composition skinfold measurement session in the evening at a convenient
time. Please contact me to arrange an individual time this week. Email:
 fiona@triathloneurope.com.

I look forward to hearing from you if you would like to be involved!”

 TUESDAY NIGHT SOCIALS
Don’t forget that we meet for a casual drink after training on the first
Tuesday of each month. Venue is upstairs at the Roebuck on Richmond Hill.
 All welcome.

The club is continuing to subsidise track sessions on Thursday evenings at
the Osterley track. All groups and all abilities are welcome. The sessions

 WHAT’S HAPPENED
 ***************
STUBBS CUP MOB MATCH v SOUTH LONDON HARRIERS 7.67 miles Saturday 8th
 December in Richmond Park
 Including Wynne Cup club championship

Ben Anderson was in a class of his own, running away from the field and
coming home almost two and a half minutes clear of SLH’s Gary Laybourne.
Phil Killingley writes: “ Ben reigned supreme with a time of 41:51, coming
back to the kind of form with which he graced the Surrey League the year we
 came third.”

In third and fourth places today Pat Wright and Marc Leyshon ran sub-45 and
Graham Brook made it four of the first five home for Ranelagh. M50 Peter
Haarer was next in, the first vet of any description, then came James Graham
and the second vet Jonathan Moore. Leading woman in 17th place was Holly
McGuigan, chased by Peter Haarer’s niece Natalie who was, however, competing
as a guest. Squeezed between those two there was another great run by M60
David Wright, completing his 175th mob match. Fanny Vein and Adrienne
Baddeley also finished before the leading SLH woman, and new member Jessica
 Busen-Smith was not far behind.

Phil adds: “The match was mercifully far less close than against Thames a
few weeks earlier, with the blue and amber winning by 340 to SLH's 693.
Great effort! We outnumbered them easily, with around 60 to their 24. Hobble
 gobble!”

The race incorporated the club championship for the magnificent Wynne Cup
and of course the trophy will go to Ben Anderson. Pat Wright and Marc
Leyshon will take the silver and bronze medals.

Very comfortable winner of the sealed handicap was Alex Fordham with a net
time of 33.53. He was some two and a half minutes ahead of Dave Powell,
with Graham Brook in third place.
